The Water level of Teesta Barrage at Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat is flowing 10 cm above the danger limits as torrential heavy rains.
At 6 am on Saturday, August 26 the largest irrigation project in the country, Teesta Barrage Dalia Point of Hatibandha Upazila of Lalmonirhat recorded a water flow of 52.25 cm. Which is flowing over 10 cm of danger level, where 52.15 cm is normal.
The residential areas at Aminganj, Kakina of Tushbhandar Upazila, Dahgram of Patgram Upazila, Saniajan of Hatibandha Upazila, Goddimari, Sindurna, Patikapara, Singimari, Mahishkhocha of Aditmari Upazila, Palashi, Khuniagach of Sadar Upazila, Rajpur, Gokunda are suffering lot.
Deputy Commissioner of the districts Mohammad Ullah said that, the lists of the people of waterlogged areas is in progress. After the completation, lists will be delivered to the Upazila Nirbahi Officers.
Water Development Board at Dalia's Executive Engineer Asfauddaula said, Due to heavy rains in the neighboring country of India, the waters of Teesta have increased.
However, to control the water by opening 44 gates of Teesta Barrage.
