Curfew has been in effect since the night of July 19 across the country. As a result, almost all types of vegetables are being sold at double prices in the markets of the capital due to supply shortages. As the supply is less than the demand, on the one hand, common people are in trouble, on the other hand, sales have decreased.

On Wednesday (July 24), such images were seen by visiting different markets of the capital.

It has been noticed that Ribbed gourd are being sold at 80 taka per kg; Which was 50 taka before the curfew. Bitter gourds are being sold at Tk 140 per kg, increasing from Tk 80. Tomatoes are being sold at Tk 200 per kg; Which was 160 taka. Cucumber and pointed gourds are being sold at Tk 60 per kg. Snake gourd is being sold at Tk 70 per kg.

Before the imposition of curfew, Brinjal was sold at Tk 60 to 70 per kg, but now it is being sold at Tk 90 to 100. Sponge gourd was sold at Tk 40 per kg but now it is selling at Tk 70.

40 taka per kg of Ladies finger is being sold at 60 taka, 60 taka radish at 80 taka, 160 taka carrot at 200 taka and 60 taka String beans at 100 taka.

Red amaranth is being sold at Tk 20, Radish leaves at Tk 15, Bottle gourd leaf at Tk 50, Green amaranth at Tk 30 and water spinach at Tk 15 each.

Apart from this, broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 210-220 per kg. Pakistani chicken is being sold at Tk 300-320, layer chicken at Tk 345-350, and country chicken at Tk 580-600 per kg.

The sellers say that even though enough vegetables are produced in the field, due to the curfew, enough vegetable trucks could not come to the capital. Where there is demand for 10 cars of vegetables, 2 cars have arrived. Despite the good production, the price of vegetables has increased due to increased demand and shortage of supply system.

A buyer named Mahfuz Khan said that the price of all goods has almost doubled. There is no way that people will eat a little vegetable. We hope that everything will be normalized soon.
