Rain may increase and continue till Saturday
Moderate to heavy to very heavy rain may occur throughout the country today. There may be continuous rain in the capital as well. In the last 24 hours, Dhaka has received 55 mm of rain. The Meteorological Office has predicted heavy rains in all parts of the country on Saturday as the activity of monsoon increased.
According to the weather forecast for the next 24 hours from Friday (August 2) morning, most places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain/thunder with gusty winds temporarily. Along with this, moderate to very heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country. Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.
The forecast also said that the extension of the monsoon axis extends over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, and central Bangladesh to Assam. Its extension extends to the northern Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over the North Bay of Bengal.
Forecasting the weather on Saturday (August 3), the Meteorological Office said that light to moderate rain/thunder with gusty winds may occur temporarily at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and some places in Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions. Along with this, moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country.
Noakhali has received the highest rainfall of 276 mm in the last 24 hours. The highest temperature was 35.5 degrees Celsius recorded in Dinajpur last 24 hours.
