US Delegation to Meet with Dr. Yunus Today
A high-level delegation from the United States is set to meet with Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, today. The meeting is scheduled for 10:55 a.m. on Sunday, September 15, at the Rashtriya Guest House, Yamuna.
This is the first visit by a US delegation to Bangladesh since the Yunus-led interim government assumed power on August 8.
The delegation, headed by US Treasury Assistant Undersecretary Brent Neiman, arrived in Dhaka on Saturday, September 14. It includes key officials such as Donald Lu, US State Department Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia, along with representatives from the US Department of the Treasury, USAID, and the Office of the US Trade Representative.
During their three-day visit, the US delegation will not only meet with Dr. Yunus but also hold courtesy meetings with Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr. Touhid Hossain and Finance and Trade Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed.
The US Embassy in Dhaka shared a message on Facebook on Saturday, highlighting the positive role American businesses play in Bangladesh’s economy, from energy security to data centers and transportation. The statement also emphasized that with the right economic reforms, the American private sector could further unlock Bangladesh’s development potential through increased trade and investment.
