A court has issued arrest warrant against 49 persons including BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in connection with killing eight people by petrol bomb attack on a bus at Chauddagram in Comilla.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Joynab Begum passed the order in Comilla district judge court on Tuesday.
The defendants’ lawyers Advocate Nazmus Sadat said, some miscreants hurled petrol bomb on a bus in Jogmohanpur area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the early morning of February 3, 2015 during the ongoing blockade enforced by 20-party alliance. Eight people were burnt to death following the attack. 20 people were also injured in the incident. SI Nuruzzaman filed two cases in this connection. One case was filed for killing people by burning and another was filed under Explosive Substances Act. 77 were accused in the two cases. Six leaders of BNP including Begum Khaleda Zia were sued for ordering the attack.
He also said, of the 77 accused 3 died. 5 were excluded from the charge sheet. Detective Police Inspector Feroz Ahmed filed charge sheet against 69 people including Khaleda Zia. As 20 accused were present in the court so arrest warrant issued against the rest including Khaleda Zia.
