Due to the nationwide suspension of train services caused by the strike of Bangladesh Railway's running staff, BRTC bus services have been introduced on key rail routes as an alternative for passenger transportation.
Rezaul Karim Siddique, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Railways, confirmed the arrangement on Tuesday (January 28) morning.
He stated that passengers traveling from Dhaka Railway Station and Airport Railway Station to destinations such as Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Khulna, Cumilla, Bogura, and Mymensingh can use their purchased train tickets to travel on BRTC buses. Similarly, passengers from these locations can use the service to travel to Dhaka.
The BRTC bus service will continue until further notice, he added.
The Railway Running Staff and Workers Union had announced during a press conference in Chattogram on January 22 that train operations would be halted starting January 28 if their demands were not met by January 27.
