The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025, the largest book fair in the country, is set to commence on its traditional date, February 1.

Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, will inaugurate the fair on the opening day.

The announcement was made by Sarkar Amin, Member Secretary of the Book Fair Committee, in a written statement at a press conference held at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy at 11:00 am on Thursday. Professor Mohammad Azam, Director General of Bangla Academy, was also present.

In his statement, Sarkar Amin emphasized that the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 is dedicated to the memory of the martyrs of the Language Movement and will officially open at 3:00 pm, with Chief Adviser Dr Yunus presiding over the inauguration. He highlighted the crucial role of books and book fairs in fostering a knowledge-based, humane, and inclusive democratic Bangladesh, expressing optimism that this year’s event will be a vibrant celebration of literature.

He further mentioned that while the layout of the fair will remain the same as last year, some arrangements have been modified. Notably, due to the Metro Rail Station's location, the outer path of the fair—positioned differently last year—has now been relocated closer to the Mandir Gate.

This year's fair will host 708 publishing organizations, with 199 exhibitors at the Bangla Academy premises and 609 at Suhrawardy Udyan, accounting for a total of 1,084 units. Additionally, there will be 37 pavilions, with one at Bangla Academy and 36 at Suhrawardy Udyan.
