Former Adviser of caretaker government Barrister Mainul Hosein has got five-month anticipatory bail in the two defamation cases filed against him. Of the two defamation cases journalist Masuda Bhatti filed one in Dhaka and the other was filed by Farzana Yasmin Lita, Convener of Jamalpur district Juba Mahila League.
The High Court bench of Justice Abdul Hafiz and Justice Mahiuddin Shamim delivered the order on Sunday.
Advocate Joynul Abedin stood for Barrister Mainul while Deputy Attorney General Rafi Ahmed stood for the state.
Earlier on Sunday noon, journalist Masuda Bhatti filed the defamation case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Asaduzzaman Nur. After taking statement of the plaintiff and reviewing the documents the court issued arrest warrant against Barrister Mainul Hosein.
Meanwhile, in Jamalpur Farzana Yasmin Lita, Convener of district Juba Mahila League filed 20 thousand crore taka defamation case against Barrister Mainul.
After filing the case at around 12 pm Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jamalpur Solaiman Kabir acknowledged the matter and issued arrest warrant against the accused.
Complainant Lita said, Barrister Mainul has demeaned the whole women section by uttering indecent word against Masuda Bhatti. In protest the case was filed.
