Fahad Ibne Kabir works at Dutt Group situated on the 11th floor of FR Tower at Banani in the capital. When fire broke out in the building he made a phone call to his mother Farida Yasmin and said, mom I can’t breathe due to smoke, please pray for me. Aftermath the phone of Kabir found switched off.
After the conversation mother Farida Yasmin rushed to the FR Tower. She began to weep looking for her son. She was living in Dhaka with his son.
Farida Yasmin said, I had a conversation with my son one hour before. Now his mobile phone is switched off. I do not know what happened to him. Fahad hailed from Bhabanipur of Laksmipur. Fahad is younger among two brothers. He was working as IT Engineer of Dutt Group.
The fire broke out on the 8th floor of FR Tower on Thursday noon. Later it spread into other floors.
Many were stranded in the 17 storey building. Of them many tried to save their lives by jumping off the building. Of them some critically injured were admitted to hospitals.
A Sri Lankan national who jumped off the building was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. His name and identity were not immediately known.
