The ongoing protests by Titumir College students have become a source of irritation for the general public, according to Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
Speaking to journalists on Monday (February 3) after a law and order meeting at the Secretariat—held to ensure the smooth observance of Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day 2025—he addressed the situation.
The Home Affairs Advisor acknowledged that the government is facing difficulties in managing the students' demonstrations for university status. He also noted that the protests are causing public inconvenience.
"Everyone is aware of who is instigating the Titumir students' protests. The students should refrain from blocking railway tracks and instead present their demands to the appropriate authorities on campus," he stated.
He warned that if the students continue disrupting railway operations, the public itself may take action to remove them. "The Titumir College movement is creating suffering for the people," he added.
Assuring that the government is committed to maintaining law and order during the upcoming national observances, he emphasized that the overall security situation in the country has improved and will continue to do so.
