A National Consensus Commission has been formed under the leadership of Interim Government's Chief Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The notification for the commission's formation has already been issued by the Cabinet Division of the government. This six-month commission will begin its activities on February 15.
According to the notification published on Wednesday (February 12), the commission will engage in discussions with political parties and stakeholders to build national consensus, focusing on the upcoming elections.
It will consider and adopt recommendations from commissions related to electoral reforms, police, judiciary, public administration, constitution, and anti-corruption measures.
The commission's tenure will be six months from the start date of its activities, and the Chief Advisor's office will provide secretarial support.
The commission is chaired by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, with Professor Ali Riaz, head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, serving as Vice President.

Safar Raj Hossain, head of the Police Reform Commission
Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, head of the Electoral Reform Commission
Justice Emdadul Haque, member of the Judicial Reform Commission
Iftekharuzzaman, head of the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission
Earlier, during his address to the nation on Victory Day, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus announced the decision to form the National Consensus Commission.
He stated that the commission's first task would be to swiftly create consensus on crucial decisions required for holding the elections.
It would also finalize recommendations on the timing of the elections through discussions with all stakeholders.
The commission will identify areas of consensus through consultations with political parties and other parties involved and recommend steps for their implementation.
