The tenure of five reform commissions formed by the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus has been extended until March 31.
On Tuesday (February 18), the Cabinet Division issued separate notifications regarding this extension. These five reform commissions were initially formed in November last year.
The five commissions are:
Media Reform Commission
Health Reform Commission
Women’s Affairs Reform Commission
Labor Reform Commission
Local Government Reform Commission
According to the notification, the extension has been granted to allow these commissions to successfully complete their tasks.
Previously, reports from six other reform commissions had already been submitted. These commissions focused on:
Constitutional Reforms
Judiciary Reforms
Electoral System Reforms
Public Administration Reforms
Police Reforms
Anti-Corruption Commission Reforms
After receiving these reports, the National Consensus Commission, led by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, has begun discussions with political parties and other stakeholders.
On February 15, the commission held its first meeting with representatives from 27 political parties and alliances at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
