Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has assured that there is no security threat regarding the observance of International Mother Language Day 2025.
"We do not perceive any security threats during the Ekushey February celebrations," he stated after inspecting security arrangements at the Central Shaheed Minar.
To ensure a peaceful observance, the DMP has implemented a comprehensive three to four-tier security system around the Central Shaheed Minar and its adjoining areas, as in previous years.
Law enforcement officers, along with other security forces, will remain vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents, with security measures in place until 3 pm tomorrow.
As part of these measures, archways have been installed at entry points, and all visitors will be screened using metal detectors before entering the premises.
"We have taken necessary steps to ensure that no one can enter with flammable substances, explosives, or any prohibited items," the commissioner added.
Additionally, mobile security teams will be deployed within a one-kilometre radius of the Central Shaheed Minar to further strengthen safety. The DMP commissioner urged visitors to maintain discipline while placing floral wreaths in honour of the language martyrs.
