Economic Advisor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has stated that the remarks made by US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard will not have any negative impact on the economic relationship between Bangladesh and the United States.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting of the Advisory Council on Government Procurement at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 18), he emphasized that Bangladesh's economy is no longer on the verge of collapse. While it was once in a critical state, significant efforts have been made to stabilize and strengthen it. The country has made a notable recovery, and global attention is now focused on its progress. Despite some challenges, the overall economic situation remains satisfactory.
The government is actively working toward Bangladesh's graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category by 2026. A well-planned transition strategy will be implemented to ensure a smooth shift. This achievement is a matter of national pride and will serve as an inspiration for other developing nations.
Dr Salehuddin also noted that delays in goods clearance have been resolved. He acknowledged that businesses often attempt to introduce various systems, but the government is focused on maintaining proper oversight and regulation.
