The government will announce a new dearness allowance for public sector employees in the upcoming 2025–26 fiscal year, but the process will take some time, according to Economic Advisor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.

He shared this information while speaking to the media on Tuesday (May 13) following a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement at the Secretariat.
Dr Ahmed stated that while the dearness allowance will be introduced in the new fiscal year, its implementation may not be immediate.

He further mentioned that the national budget will include provisions for this allowance, and the exact percentage to be provided will be disclosed later.
