Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today extended his congratulations to all those involved in the launch of Starlink internet services in Bangladesh.
The message was shared by Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder through a statement posted on the verified Facebook account of the Chief Adviser's Office this morning.
Starlink officially announced the launch via its X (formerly Twitter) account, stating: "Starlink's high-speed, low-latency internet is now available in Bangladesh!"
According to Azad, Starlink has introduced two subscription plans for users in Bangladesh: Starlink Residence, priced at Taka 6,000 per month, and Residence Lite, costing Taka 4,200 per month. Customers will also need to pay a one-time setup fee of Taka 47,000 for the required equipment. Notably, both plans offer unlimited data with speeds up to 300 Mbps and no usage caps.
He confirmed that Bangladeshi customers can begin placing orders for the service starting today.
"With this, the goal of launching Starlink in Bangladesh within 90 days has been successfully achieved," Azad said.
While acknowledging that the pricing may be considered high, Azad noted that the service provides a sustainable, premium alternative for high-speed internet access in the country. He highlighted the potential for businesses to expand operations in areas where fibre connectivity remains unavailable.
He added that NGOs, freelancers, and entrepreneurs across Bangladesh will now benefit from year-round access to uninterrupted, high-speed internet, enhancing digital connectivity and economic opportunities.
