Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, has clarified that while the government is focused on modernising the Chattogram Port, it is not transferring control of the port to any entity.
Speaking at the CMJF Talk event organised by the Capital Market Journalists Forum in Dhaka on Sunday (May 25), he emphasised the government's stance.
"We want the world's leading companies to be involved in managing the Chattogram Port," said Alam. "However, that doesn't mean we are giving the port away. We aim to bring in investment and have them manage specific terminals."
He added that foreign investors have already shown strong interest, with commitments of up to three billion dollars in investment.
