He made these remarks during a press conference held on Monday (May 26) at the National Parliament premises, following the first phase of discussions between the Commission and various political parties. The briefing aimed to inform the public about the ongoing efforts and progress.

Riaz emphasised that while further discussions are required on the recommendations of the Constitution Reform Commission, there is no division on the caretaker government issue. Most political parties have expressed their support for a two-chamber parliamentary structure. There is also broad agreement on the proposed reforms suggested by the Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission.

On the judiciary, Riaz mentioned that several recommendations from the Judicial Reform Commission have already gained consensus, although some parties suggested consulting legal professionals on certain aspects. He confirmed that all parties are in favour of enacting a comprehensive law to govern the Election Commission. Additionally, most parties support bringing local government elections under the Commission's authority. A public survey will also be conducted through the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) to gather public opinion on key recommendations.

Regarding the Election Commission, Riaz stated that most parties support a provision allowing the parliamentary standing committee to investigate and report to the President if the Commission fails to fulfil its constitutional duties. However, opinions were mixed on amending the Representation of the People Order (RPO) to bar individuals accused of crimes against humanity from contesting parliamentary elections.

On other issues, there was broad consensus on taking legal action against officials involved in electoral fraud, and most parties have also agreed in principle to the proposal of establishing three separate public service commissions.
