Millions of worshipers flock to Bishwa Ijtema
The first phase of Bishwa Ijtema, the second largest gathering of the Muslim's, began with the speech of Maulana Ahmed Batla after Fajr on Friday (Feb 2). His speech was translated by Maulana Nurur Rahman of Bangladesh.
The media coordinator of the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema, Habib Ullah Raihan, confirmed this information.
Muslim devotees from different foreign countries, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Europe, America, and Africa, have already reached the venue.
"Essential facilities for foreign devotees, such as water supply, cooking management, and security, have been upgraded", said Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan.
Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), Mahbub Alam, said that along with 6000 members of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, RAB, Dhaka Metropolitan Police and sufficient number of law enforcement officers of uniformed and plainclothes intelligence forces are on duty in Ijtema.
However, 50 free medical camps were installed for treatment, and additional beds were added at Shahid Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital for providing proper medical treatment to the devotees.
