As the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day on March 26, the National Memorial in Savar stands ready to honor the sacrifices of the brave martyrs. Authorities have implemented strict security measures to ensure a smooth and dignified tribute.
A visit to the memorial grounds on Tuesday (March 25) revealed meticulous preparations across the 108-hectare site. The Public Works Department has completed various beautification efforts, ensuring the entire area is pristine. The lush green surroundings have been enhanced with vibrant flowers, and all pathways have been thoroughly cleaned.
On Independence Day, people from all walks of life will gather at the memorial to pay their respects to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country. Final preparations, including painting, CCTV installation, and electronic setup, are underway. To maintain security and order, entry restrictions for outside visitors have been in place since Monday.
According to the Public Works Department, around 100 sanitation workers have been engaged in extensive cleaning efforts, covering the entrance gate to the main monument. Trees have been trimmed, flower pots have been arranged, and the lakes have been refreshed with red water lilies. White decorative elements have been incorporated to enhance the memorial's solemn beauty. Additionally, the lighting arrangements have been completed.
The entire memorial area will be monitored 24/7 through watchtowers and CCTV surveillance to ensure security.
At dawn, the Honorable President, the Honorable Chief Advisor, and citizens from across the country will arrive at the National Memorial to pay tribute to the martyrs.
Security has been reinforced with the deployment of the police, the army, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Intelligence officers in plain clothes will also be on duty to ensure safety.
Thousands of people from different parts of the country are expected to visit the memorial, expressing their respect and gratitude to those who fought for the nation's independence.
A sanitation worker at the memorial stated, "We are working diligently to ensure the site is clean and prepared, as people from all over the country will come to pay their respects."
Savar National Memorial's Assistant Engineer, Mizanur Rahman, confirmed, "The memorial is being fully prepared to receive the Honorable President, the Honorable Chief Advisor, and all citizens coming to pay tribute."
Dhaka District Police Superintendent Anisuzzaman added, "All necessary security measures are in place for Independence Day. Several intelligence agencies in plainclothes are monitoring the area, and CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the site to ensure maximum security."
