Nilphamari district Ansar Commandant Ashiqur Rahman was caught red handed while offering bribe to Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Assistant Director Jafar Sadeq.
Ashiqur Rahman was detained on Thursday afternoon with one lakh taka bribe money.
Deputy Director of Chattogram ACC Luthful Kabir Chandan confirmed the matter.
He said, Ashiqur Rahman was involved with a tender irregularity while discharging his duty as the commander of Bandarban Ansar battalion. To save him from the corruption allegation he tried to provide on lakh taka bribe to ACC Deputy Assistant Director Jafar Sadeq.
In the meantime ACC has begun its investigation over the tender irregularity. In this process when Ashiqur was summoned for quizzing at the ACC office, he proposed the officer to solve the matter after taking the amount of money.
When Jafar Sadeq informed the office about the matter then Ashiqur was arrested promptly with help of Chattogram district administration executive magistrate and ACC officials. Case will be filed against him.
