New members of 'Bangladesh Film Censor Board'

Bangladesh Film Censor Board has been restructured. A number of stars have made this new committee of 15 members. They will perform the duties of the committee for the next one year.
This censor board was formed on Sunday (May 12). On this day, the matter was informed by issuing a notification from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, signed by Saiful Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Information.
Among the stars as members of this new committee are Sujata Azim, Aruna Biswas, Rokeya Prachi, Purnima, Azizul Hakeem. Besides, there is producer Khosru and director Jahangir Alam.
FDC's current Managing Director Nuzhat Yasmin, president of the board of directors Kazi Hayat are also present in the formation of new committee.
According to the announcement of the reorganization of the Censor Board by the order of the President, the new committee started with the Secretary of the Ministry of Information as the Chairman and the Vice Chairman of the Censor Board as the Member Secretary.
According to Censor Board sources, the information secretary has been elected as the new chairman of this board. He will serve as the chairman of the Censor Board for the next one year. Besides, six members of various ministries including the Ministry of Information will also perform their duties.
Apart from this, the members of the Censor Board are the Secretary of the Law and Justice Department, the Prime Minister's Press Secretary, the Deputy Secretary (Administration and Films) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and a representative of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Salman Shah's Death Anniversary Today
Salman Shah, real name Shahriar Chowdhury Emon, was a popular silver screen actor in the 90s. He mysteriously died on September 6, 1996, at the age of 25. His father Kamaruddin Chowdhury had filed an unnatural death case which he later turned into a murder case.
Today (September 6) marks the 28th anniversary of his death.
In 1993, Salman Shah entered Dhallywood with the movie 'Kayamat Theke Kayamat' directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. In just three and a half years till 1996, he presented 27 commercially successful films. The widely loved actor passed away that year, leaving the entire country in shock and raising many questions.
But whether he committed suicide that day or was murdered, 28 years later, the mystery is still unknown. Although the investigation of the case has changed repeatedly, the doubt still remains.
Police had filed a case of unnatural death considering it a suicide, but Salman's family objected to it and lodged a murder case.
Salman's father Kamar Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury had started the case, but after his death, his mother Neela Chowdhury emerged as the plaintiff.
Kamar Uddin died in 2002 after six years of not knowing whether his son committed suicide or was murdered.
What happened that day?
Salman Shah's popularity and fame in cinema was at its peak. On the morning of September 6, 1996, Salman Shah's dead body was found in a rented house in the New Eskaton Garden area of the capital. His wife Samira Haq called the police and said that they saw Salman hanging on the ceiling fan of the dressing room. From there, his body was brought down and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
On the same day, Salman Shah's father, Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury filed a wrongful death case at the capital's Ramna police station.
In the case, he mentioned that on the day of the incident, he went to meet his son at Salman's house around 9:30 am. But Salman's personal assistant Abul and Samira said, "Salman has been working all night. Now he is in deep sleep."
Kamar Uddin returned home after waiting for about an hour. At around 11:30, a person named Selim called him and told him what happened to Salman. When Salman's father, mother, and brother rushed to Salman's house, they found Salman's dead body in the bedroom.
Even after so many years, Salman Shah is still a big name. He made a huge impact in the short time that he was in the industry. His renowned works are, Keyamot Theke Keyamot, Ontore Ontore, Sneho, Den Mohor, Tumi Amar, Shopner Thikana, Tomake Chai, Shopner Prithibi, Jibon Shongshar, Anondo Asru, Mayer Odhikar, Shotter Mrittu Nei, Buker Bhetor Agun, Shopner Nayok, Shudhu Tumi, Prem Piyashi, Ali Keno Golam etc. He also acted in telefiction Pathor Shomoy and Etikotha, Doyel, Sob Pakhi Ghore Fere, and Noyon.
Finally 'Alo Ashbei' Group Admin Tusti Opens Up
The WhatsApp group of pro-Awami League artists 'Alo Ashbei' is being heavily criticized. From there came the advice to pour hot water on the students of the July uprising.
Actress Shamima Islam Tusti is one of the four admins of this group. She expressed her position amid fierce criticism about the group.
On Saturday (September 7), Shamima Tusti wrote, "What I am going to write right now, I know, I may face abuse and trolls for this. Still, I want to clear my position. I want to say first that I am an active worker of a political party. Active worker of Bangladesh Awami League. This is because my father was a freedom fighter. In 1965, my father was the organizing secretary of the Malibag Awami League, so there was always this atmosphere in my house where I considered the forces of the Liberation War as my own. I don't think my bias is wrong either. I think I made my participation right. But despite being a member of this group, I have some judgments of my own. You all know that when one works as a worker of a party, he has to do according to the words of the leaders of that party. There is no situation to work against those party guidelines. And I don't want to do that as a party worker."
She also wrote, "That's why I am not a supporter of this murder, this brutality against students, not even for a minute. Many workers in the Bangladesh Awami League were not like that. Many of us needed to take positions. It was needed long ago. I know many of you will be offended by this. But I hope you will agree that we are too late to know what is happening in Bangladesh. We went on BTV, and artists protested against the violence and killing of students, but they didn't make it to the news. But what has come, created room for more misunderstandings. But I will not say that what has been done is not right either. We also visited the injured in the hospital."
The actress also said that she did not open her mouth for fear of trolls and abuse. Shamima Tusti wrote, "I came before you very late. But my feelings are not new. It was happening from the beginning. I didn't write before because I was afraid of trolls. I wasn't in the mood to take so many trolls and insults. Now I can control myself a little bit. I hope I will have the patience to take all your words."
Finally, she wrote, 'I made my position clear to you from such a place. I wish everyone well. I hope that the sacrifice of the martyrs does not fail in Bangladesh.
“Rong Dhong” Cleared for Release After Censor Board Approval
The long-awaited film "Rong Dhong", which had been stuck at the Censor Board for quite some time, is set to be released in theaters this November 2024. Directed by Ahasan Sarawar, the film finally received its censor clearance last year following a ruling by the Appellate Division, nearly three years after its production.
Notably, two of the film's songs, “Boyosh 16te Prem” and “Oddhuto Prem Amar”, have already been released on social media and have created a significant buzz.
Regarding the film, the director stated, "It’s not just a few but multiple hurdles that we have overcome to bring this film to the audience. Honestly, it's a bit challenging to convey the mental state of a director until a film is actually released."
The film has been in the spotlight even before its release due to the two songs, and the director had concerns due to the delays at the Censor Board. He also mentioned that the exact release date in November will be announced soon.
The cast of the film includes esteemed actors Tariq Anam Khan, Arman Parvez Murad, Lutfor Rahman George, Sera Zaman, Faruk Ahmed, Shadhin Khasru, Dr. Ejazur Rahman, Shabnam Parveen, Pran Ray, Jamin Hossain, Soma Ferdous, Sadaf, Rakib Hossain Ivan, Makhnoon, Sohel Mondol, Amin Azad, Shamim Hossain, Ornob Khan, among others.

Tollywood Actress Escapes Drunken Actor's Harassment
Tollywood actress Debolina Dutta recently opened up about a disturbing experience with a famous actor, following the dismissal of director Arindam Sheel from the Directors Guild on sexual harassment charges. Taking to social media, Debolina cryptically wrote, “Time gives all the answers. Time cannot be silenced.”
In a conversation with Indian media, Debolina recounted an incident from a trip to New York, where several Tollywood actors were present, including a superstar who is well-known in both Bengali and Hindi cinema. Debolina was accompanied by her mother, and during a gathering in the actor’s hotel room, her mother left behind a shawl.
Later that evening, the actor learned Debolinaa’s room number and called her around midnight, asking her to collect the shawl. Unaware of the actor's intentions, Debolina went to his room. Once inside, the actor, intoxicated, attempted to get close to her. The actress quickly tried to leave, but the actor blocked the door. When she insisted on leaving, he reluctantly let her go.
Debolina's revelations have shed light on the ongoing issue of harassment within the entertainment industry, calling for further accountability and action.
Artist Mustafa Monowar on Life Support, Condition is Critical
Mustafa Monowar is a famous Bangladeshi painter and drama personality. He is seriously ill and is on life support at Capital's Square Hospital. The doctor said that his condition is critical.
Dr. Amy Trishita Saren, in charge of the critical care unit of Square Hospital, told the media that his condition is critical. No comments can be delivered at this time.
According to family sources of Mustafa Monowar, he is suffering from septic shock due to lung and blood infection. Apart from this, there are problems related to pneumonia, diabetes, Parkinson's, and high blood pressure. Treatment was also conducted in India but did not improve as expected. He was taken to the hospital again on September 4.
Incidentally, Mustafa Monowar is the son of the late poet Golam Mustafa.
Mustafa Monowar is an artist, theater director, and art researcher. In 2004, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak for his contribution to the arts.
ATM Shamsuzzaman's Birth Anniversary Today
Legendary actor ATM Shamsuzzaman's 83rd birth anniversary today. He is a multi-talented artiste, who excelled as a film story writer, screenwriter, actor, and director throughout his illustrious career.
ATM Shamsuzzaman was born on this day in 1941 at his maternal grandparent's house in Daulatpur, Noakhali. He studied at Dhaka's Pogose School, Collegiate School, and Rajshahi's Loknath High School. His father Nuruzzaman was a famous lawyer, he used to do politics with Sher-e-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Haque. Mother Nurunnessa Begum. ATM Shamsuzzaman was the eldest among five brothers and three sisters.
He became an integral part of Bengali cinema by acting. He is equally popular not only in movies but also on TV screens. He is also a producer, screenwriter, storyteller, dialogue writer, and storyteller.
In 1961, ATM Shamsuzzaman got an opportunity to work as an assistant director in Udayan Chowdhury's film "Bishkanya". Then in 1965, he wrote the screenplay for the first time. The name of the movie is "Jalchhabi". He started his acting career in the same year. His first acting movie 'Naya Zindagani' was not released though.
The veteran actor made his acting debut in 1965, though his first film never saw a release. His official big-screen debut came in 1968 with the film "Etotuku Asha" directed by Narayan Ghosh Mita. He played the role of a newspaper vendor.
This was the first movie of his to hit theatres, and the song "Tumi Ki Dekhecho" from "Etotuku Asha" remains a timeless favorite to this day.
The late actor ATM Shamsuzzaman starred in numerous films throughout his career, leaving a lasting impact on audiences with his performances in several iconic works. He has acted in more than four hundred films. ATM Shamsuzzaman has made people laugh by acting in numerous dramas also. Among them, "Ronger Manush," "Ghor Kutum," "Bhober Hat," 'Bou Churi," "Noashal," "Sheel Bari," "Noibo Noibo Cha," "Bhimroti," "Goru Churi" etc. are notable.
Throughout his long career, ATM Shamsuzzaman was best known for portraying antagonistic characters in most of his films. He garnered widespread attention, particularly for his portrayal of the character Morol in a rural-themed movie.
ATM Shamsuzzaman received the love of millions of viewers. He was awarded the National Film six times including the Ekushey Medal. On February 20, 2021, the talented actor left us.
