The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered four individuals accused in the murder of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayed—killed during the anti-authoritarian mass uprising in Rangpur in July-August—to appear before the court on April 9.
The order was issued on Sunday (March 2) by a tribunal led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder.
Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tazul Islam stated that the investigation report against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina regarding the July-August genocide allegations is expected to be submitted later this month.
Abu Sayed was fatally shot by police during the anti-discrimination student movement in Rangpur.
According to the prosecution, former ASI Amir Hossain and Constable Sujan Chandra Roy were directly involved in the incident. Additionally, Begum Rokeya University Proctor Shariful Islam, Chhatra League activist Emran Chowdhury Akash, and several others allegedly played a role in instigating it.
The prosecution has filed a petition to officially record these accused individuals, who are already detained in another case, as arrested in this case as well.
