Meanwhile to use the satellite BCSCL for the first time has signed MoU and agreement with shipping ministry. Through this agreement necessary services will be provided in different ports, ferry ghats, ships and other establishments under different departments of the ministry from Bangabandhu Satellite-1.

The satellite project is going to be implemented with a cost of nearly three thousand crore taka. There will be 40 transponders in the satellite. Of those 20 will be kept for Bangladesh and the rest will be kept for rental service to earn foreign exchange.

The government hopes that 14 million dollars can be saved annually from rental service by using this satellite. Big amount of money can be earned from countries like Nepal and Bhutan.
