The Interim Government was born out of unity, stated Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus. On Thursday (January 16), during his inaugural speech at the all-party unity meeting at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital, aimed at drafting the July Proclamation, he made these remarks.

Dr. Yunus said, "The entire sentiment on July 5 was one of unity. Our birth is in unity, our strength is in unity. This government was born out of unity."

He added, "When we work alone, we feel a bit weak. But when we work together, courage grows in our hearts. It feels good to meet with you all, to sit together; it gives me courage."

Regarding the Proclamation, the Chief Advisor stated, "One day, the students came and said they would issue a declaration and that I should be there. I told them it wouldn't work. It must include everyone's wishes. If not, it won't be right. The unity with which you created on August 5 would be disrespected. From that conversation, this discussion began. Today’s discussion will center around this."

Dr. Yunus emphasized that failing to act in unity would hinder the objective. "Acting through unity will instill courage in everyone. People will think we are still awake. We haven’t become blunt; we are united as a nation. As long as I am here, I will stand by unity. So, we must proceed along this path."

Earlier, after 4 PM, the all-party meeting commenced under the chairmanship of Dr. Yunus. Representatives from various political parties, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Democracy Platform, State Reform Movement, People's Rights Council, and Islamic Movement Bangladesh, participated in the meeting.

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) announced they would not participate in the meeting with the Chief Advisor.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee had intended to publish the July Uprising Declaration at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on December 31. This sparked widespread discussion in the political arena. Subsequently, on the night of December 30, the Chief Advisor's press secretary announced that the interim government, based on national consensus, had taken the initiative to draft a July Uprising Declaration.

Following this, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee gave the interim government until January 15 to publish the July Declaration.

On the night of January 15, the Chief Advisor's press wing announced that under the leadership of Dr. Yunus, the interim government would host an all-party meeting on the July Proclamation at the Foreign Service Academy between 4 PM and 7 PM on Thursday.
