A research report revealed that different types of harmful chemicals are being used in 69 to 100 percent fodders in the country.
The information was upheld in a research report publication program on milk and milk produced foods and attaining accreditation certificates of National Food Safety Laboratory under Public Health Institute on Sunday.
Health Minister Zahid Malek was present as the chief guest in the result publication program held at conference room of the Public Health Institute.
The report said, the chemicals which are used in fodders such as pesticides, chromium, tetracycline, enrofloxacin, ciprocin and aflatoxin. Besides, in the samples of cow milk, packaged milk and curd different amount of pesticides, tetracycline, lead and different biological impurities were found.
The report also said, 96 samples of cow milk were collected from different areas of the country. Cow milk and fodder samples were collected directly from the farms. Samples of packaged liquid milk available in the market and also the imported packaged milk were collected from different super stores. Tests were done in the laboratory after following the due process.
Presence of antibiotics found in all fodder samples were greater than the tolerable level. Even pesticides were also found. There were also lead and chromium.
These elements play negative impact on human's disease protection ability and lead, chromium help to create cancer.
The program presided over by Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Azad where State Minister for Health Dr. Murad Hassan, health and family welfare Secretary (Health service division) Md. Asadul Islam, Swachip leader Dr. Aqbal Arslan, Public Health Institute Director Nirmal Sen were present.
