The first meeting of the National Consensus Commission focused on state reforms, has officially begun under the leadership of Chief Adviser and Commission Chairman, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting started at 3:00 pm on Saturday (February 15) at the Foreign Service Academy, with leaders from various political parties in attendance.
Among the participants is a six-member delegation led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Other notable attendees include:
- Mia Golam Parwar, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami
- Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmed, Chairman of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)
- Mahmudur Rahman Manna, President of Nagorik Oikya
- Mostafa Jamal Haider, Representative of Jatiya Party (Zafar faction)
- Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Chairman of BJP
- Shahadat Hossain Selim, Chairman of Bangladesh LDP
- Syed Mohammad Mosaddeq Billah Al Madani, Presidium Member of Islami Andolon Bangladesh
- Mujibur Rahman Manju, Chairman of AB Party
- Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad
- Subrata Chowdhury, Presidium Member of Gono Forum
- Leaders from the Nationalist Like-minded Alliance and Bangladesh Labour Party
Details About the National Consensus Commission
The interim government has formed the National Consensus Commission under the chairmanship of Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, with seven other members. These include:
- Ali Riaz, Head of the Constitutional Reform Commission
- Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, Head of the Public Administration Reform Commission
- Safar Raj Hossain, Head of the Police Reform Commission
- Badiul Alam Majumder, Head of the Election Reform Commission
- Justice Emdadul Haque, Head of the Judicial Reform Commission
- Iftekharuzzaman, Head of the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission
As the 13th National Election approaches, the National Consensus Commission will hold discussions with political parties and other stakeholders to consider and implement recommendations from several reform commissions. These reforms aim to address issues related to law enforcement, the electoral system, public administration, the judiciary, and anti-corruption efforts. The Chief Adviser's Office will serve as the secretariat for the commission.
