182 police members were recommended for Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and President Police Medal (PPM) for their brevity, service and efficiency while performing duty to curb crime in the year 2017.
It is the highest number of achievers after the independence.
The ‘Police Week 2018’ will begin on January 8 with the slogan ‘Combating militants and drugs is the pledge of the police week’. On that day Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take salam at the Rajarbag Police Lines ground and will also set the medals to the recommended members.
30 police members will get the BPM medals while 71 members will get the PPM medals.
The slain RAB Intelligence Chief Lieutenant Colonel Abul Kalam Azad, police Inspector Chowdhury Md. Abu Koysor and police Inspector Monirul Islam will be awarded BPM brevity medals posthumous. They all were killed during militant attack at Atia Mahal in Sylhet on March 24 last.
28 police members will be given BPM-Servie medals and 53 police members will be given PPM-Service medals for their crime control, unearthing the mysterious cases, efficiency, dutifulness, honesty and discipline.
For the first time two Senior ASP and a Sub Inspector will be awarded for investigating the war crimes case and an ASP will be awarded for his role for providing security for VIP persons.
According to the police headquarters, of the medal nominated more that 20 members got injuries while performing duty. 46 percent of the rewards are going to the constable to inspector level police members.
