Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood thinks that Bangladesh’s two steps achievement in the conceptual index on corruption of Transparency International (TI) is a result of many efforts.
He said, Bangladesh has decreased two points in corruption. It was not much easier.
He said these to the newsmen at the ACC office at Segun Bagicha in the capital on Sunday.
In their report on Thursday TI said, Bangladesh’s position is in 17th among the most corrupt countries in this year which was 15th in the previous year.
Barlin based TI published the index on Thursday considering the situation of corruption in 2017 over 180 countries and regions of the world.
According to the index scroll (from good to bad) Bangladesh’s position is in 143 this year. Last year Bangladesh’s position was in 145 among the 176 countries.
Based on 100 Bangladesh’s score increased by 2 points and stood at 28.
On the third day of publishing the TI index the ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood delivered his formal speech on Sunday.
He said, we are marching forward though there is corruption in the country. But the march needs to be rapid. It is not a simple matter to advance two points in the corruption index. But there is nothing to be self satisfied.
