New cotton paper 100 taka note to be released

New varnished 100 taka notes made of hundred percent cotton papers are coming in the market. The notes will be released by Bangladesh Bank from next Thursday.

The information came through a press release of Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday.

The central bank said, to further strengthen the security feature of high price bank notes the new 100 taka valued notes made of 100 percent cotton papers with long lasting developed coating and UV varnished were printed. The 140 mm x 62 mm size notes will be attached with signature of Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir.

The notes will be released from Bangladesh Bank Motijheel office on Thursday (March 7) and later those will be issued from other offices of Bangladesh Bank in the country.

In the new note, the existing design and color of the Taka 100 note are unchanged. Varnish plaque has been added on both sides of the note. So the note will be shinier and increase its stability.

The note will be less dirty than the existing one and anything cannot be written easily on the note. Besides, users of the note will feel a bit slippery.

All the previous features will be available in the new varnished notes. The color, design, other security features such as watermark, ‘100’ written with OVI ink, 3 dots for the blind, microprint etc will be unchanged.

Along with the new printed notes, the existing 100 taka notes will continue as valid banknotes, said Bangladesh Bank.
