Two “Neo JMB” members including Hadisur Rahman Sagar have been arrested by Law enforcers. Hadisur Rahman Sagar allegedly supplied bombs during the Holey Artisan attack that left 20 dead, 17 of them foreigners in 2016. Another alleged mastermind of Hotel Olio blast has also been arrested.
Sagar (36) and Niloy (26) from Shibganj upazila of the district have been arrested by a team of Bogra police early today.
The other arrestee Akram Hosen Niloy of Kishorganj is the alleged mastermind of the Hotel Olio International blast in Dhaka’s Panthapath on August 15 last year, sources at Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said.
Later, the two were handed over to CTTC unit, Mohibul Islam Khan, deputy commissioner of the unit, told The Daily Star. Hasibur hailed from Joypur, supplied arms and grenades during the Gulshan attack on July 1, 2016, according to the sources at CTTC.
Tamim Chowdhury, a suspected mastermind of the café attack who was killed during a raid in Narayanganj, brought Hasibur to Neo JMB. Before joining the Neo JMB in 2015, he was a member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
Police sources said, “The arrestees will be produced before a court with remand prayer today.”
